Powering Sport with
Sustainable Energy
Sports clubs and leisure facilities are at the heart of communities — but they are also among the most energy-intensive buildings. Highlighting, heating and hot water demands mean costs can spiral, while emissions remain high.
At Tipperary Energy Agency (TEA), we help sports organisations, leisure centres, swimming pools and GAA clubs reduce energy use, cut running costs and deliver healthier, more sustainable facilities. As a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, our advice is independent, impartial and focused on outcomes.
We have vast experience working with GAA clubs and county boards, as well as tennis and athletic clubs across Ireland. Our engineers designed the transformation of Nenagh Leisure Centre into Ireland’s first NZEB leisure centre and completed work on Ireland’s first solar-powered swimming pool at Lahinch Leisure Centre. We also supported Laois GAA County Board with the LED flood-lighting of O’Moore Park, one of Ireland’s busiest grounds, delivering annual energy savings of €15,000.
From energy-efficient floodlighting for pitches and astroturf to lighting, heating and insulation upgrades in clubhouses and dressing rooms, TEA has proven expertise in helping sports organisations achieve real impact.
