Overview

Nenagh Scouts Hall is a long-standing community building that needed targeted fabric upgrades to become more comfortable and efficient. TEA supported the committee from audit stage through project management and delivery.

The challenge

The 1930s hall had no insulation in the roof or walls, and the committee knew the building was losing heat and becoming difficult to manage in colder months. The asbestos roof also needed to be addressed as part of the upgrade pathway.

How TEA supported the project

TEA carried out an energy audit and identified the roof as the main source of heat loss. The resulting project focused on replacing the existing roof with insulated panels and improving heat distribution inside the hall.

What was delivered

  • Energy audit and prioritisation of major heat-loss issues
  • Removal of asbestos roof and installation of insulated roof panels
  • Destratification fans to improve the circulation of warm air
  • Project management support for a voluntary committee

Results and impact

The insulated roof package cost €87,815 and reduced heat loss through the roof by 90 percent. The hall is now more comfortable for regular activities and community events, with far better temperature control during winter use.

Client voice

“Tipperary Energy Agency managed the entire project for us, which was great.”
