Nenagh Tennis Club upgraded the lighting across its six courts with TEA support, improving light quality while reducing running and maintenance costs. The project is a strong example of how targeted measures can make a visible difference for a voluntary club.

The club’s existing court lighting was poor and expensive to run. The committee wanted better playing conditions, lower costs and a manageable route through grant administration and delivery.

TEA developed an energy-efficient lighting design specification tailored to the site and supported the project under the Better Energy Communities funding route. The work included removal of the old system and installation of high-quality LED fittings.

The club invested €54,661 including VAT in the lighting upgrade. The new system improved aesthetics and playing conditions, and the club expected annual savings of more than €2,500 with a payback period of about 8 to 10 years after grant support.

“There is a lot of administration and project management involved with any grant scheme. That is why it was so good to have the support of Tipperary Energy Agency.”

Planning a similar project? TEA can help assess the opportunity, shape the right solution, and support delivery from concept to completion.
