North Tipperary Hospice worked with TEA to improve comfort and efficiency in a voluntary care setting where every euro matters. The project combined practical retrofit measures with grant support and a delivery model suited to a non-profit organisation.

The building needed upgraded doors and windows and had broader opportunities for energy improvement. As a fully voluntary organisation supported through fundraising, the hospice needed the works to be cost-effective and strongly justified.

TEA, with LEADER support, carried out an energy audit and identified a package of measures that would improve comfort, reduce heat loss and modernise building services. TEA also supported the Better Energy Communities funding application.

The completed measures delivered savings of 6,255 kWh per year, worth about €640 annually. Staff reported more even heat throughout the building, better air freshness and a noticeably more comfortable internal environment.

“The staff are delighted. The heat is consistent in every room in the house.”
